From brief to published: inside our seven-step content workflow

Discover, strategise, plan, produce, publish, analyse, optimise. What happens at each stage of a monthly content partnership, and where your input matters.

An audience listening closely during a presentation

One of the most common frustrations with marketing agencies is not knowing what is happening. Content appears, or doesn't. Reports arrive full of numbers but without a plan. It is hard to tell whether the work is improving.

We work to a clear seven-step process so that you always know what stage the work is at, what we need from you and how this month's results will shape next month's plan.

01. Discover

We understand the business before creating anything. That means looking at your business model, your audience, your competitors, your brand and your objectives.

The goal is to understand what makes you different and what your customers actually care about. Good content starts from real insight, not a template.

Your input: an initial conversation, access to existing channels and any brand guidelines or past results you have.

02. Strategise

Next, we set the direction for the month or campaign:

  • Content pillars: the themes you will be known for
  • Creative direction: how the content should look and feel
  • Platform strategy: where to focus, and the role of each platform
  • Campaign objectives: what this period needs to achieve
  • KPIs: how we will measure it

03. Plan

We turn the strategy into a structured content calendar. Every piece of content has a concept, a hook, a message, a call to action and a platform.

Your input: you review and approve the monthly plan before production starts. This is the most important approval point. Agreeing the plan upfront means fewer surprises and less rework later.

04. Produce

Our team handles the complete production process:

  1. Concept
  2. Script
  3. Storyboard
  4. Shoot
  5. Edit
  6. Final approval

Shoots are planned and batched so we capture as much useful content as possible in each session.

Your input: access to products, locations or people for the shoot, and final approval of finished content. Revisions are included at each package level.

05. Publish

Approved content is scheduled and published according to the calendar. For each piece, we optimise the posting time, captions, keywords, hashtags, cover image and platform format. Small details like a strong cover or a searchable caption make a real difference to how content performs.

06. Analyse

At the end of every month, we analyse performance against the KPIs we agreed:

  • What performed, and what didn't?
  • Which audience responded?
  • Which format worked?
  • Which content drove action?

We explain the five layers we measure, from awareness to conversions, in How to measure social media marketing without chasing vanity numbers.

07. Optimise

The data becomes the strategy for the next month. We continuously test hooks, formats, topics, calls to action and creative styles, and make more of what works.

This creates a continuous loop: strategy, create, publish, measure, optimise. Month one is a starting point. Each month after that should be sharper than the last.

Month one is a starting point. The process is designed so that every month after it gets sharper.

Why the process matters

A clear process isn't bureaucracy. It protects the two things that matter most in a marketing partnership: your time and your results. You know when your input is needed, and you can see how decisions are made.
